In the Heart of Silicon Valley

Anchor-Electronics was founded in Santa Clara by John Robert Burgoon, a Lockheed engineer, who was captivated by the nascent stirrings of what was to become known as the Silicon Valley.

In 1974 John determined to leave his desk at Lockheed and become a supplier of high-quality electronic parts for the myriad hi-tech startups in the South Bay. Very much in the spirit of the day, he began his new enterprise out of his garage, before demand quickly dictated that he move to a considerably larger space on Walsh Avenue.

Over the years Anchor-Electronics has catered to the needs of engineers from a veritable who's who of tech companies; from Apple Computer, Applied Materials and Atari, to Western Digital, Xilinx and Zoran Corporation. At the same time we have taken pride in nurturing the dreams of hobbyists and tinkerers at work on developing the next breakthrough gadget.
